What is a Wine Star volunteer?

Wine Stars are civic volunteers spreading awareness and promoting dynamism of North Texas Wine/Wineries while pouring wine with joy and laughter.  We have a fantastic group of folks who love wine, enjoy working at events and festivals and look forward to getting together at our nearly monthly Tasteful Gatherings where we taste wines at various North Texas wineries, gain training and wine knowledge as well as enjoying one another’s company.

Wine Star Mission and Requirements for Membership

Our mission is threefold:

1. To provide knowledgeable and personable volunteers to work at events where a better than average knowledge of our wineries is expected.
2. To act as Ambassadors for the NTWC, and the Texas wine industry.
3. To educate our members in the areas of wine, wine production and grape farming

The Wine Stars is a volunteer group created for the North Texas Wine Country where we provide volunteers for approximately four events annually, in North Texas. Wine Stars can also participate in non-Association events and festivals at the request of member wineries throughout the year.

We have 10 meetings per year plus training sessions for our events. The meetings have an informational component, as well as updates on upcoming volunteer events. We meet at a winery, taste and learn about their wine, and meet the winemakers.

Membership requirements are: 

1. Attend a minimum 5 meetings per year plus training sessions
2. Volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per year at NTWA sponsored events
3. Obtain & maintain Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission (TABC) Seller Certification and Food Handler Certification.

Dues are $40 per year and go toward event tools and supplies, such as a t-shirt, apron, wine key (opener) and name badge.

This is an incredible opportunity to be a part of the Wine Stars and to be on the “inside” of what’s happening in North Texas Wine Country as well as an incredibly fun group to get to know.
